Square Volume Damper
A square volume damper consists of a metal frame housing one or more adjustable blades mounted on a shaft. The blades rotate to control the volume of air passing through the duct. Operation may be manual (using a lever or quadrant) or automatic (using an electric or pneumatic actuator). The damper is typically fabricated from galvanized steel, aluminum, or stainless steel to ensure durability and corrosion resistance.
Square volume dampers are commonly installed in supply, return, or exhaust air ducts to achieve proper air balancing, improve system efficiency, and maintain desired indoor air distribution. They are suitable for commercial, industrial, and residential HVAC systems and can be configured for low-, medium-, or high-pressure applications.
